Some of you will still remember with great gratitude the ministry in Englefield Green of the Revd Richard Falkner. Richard became Vicar of St Jude's in February 1966 and sadly and suddenly died in October1986 whilst still in post. His wife, Joyce, who outlived Richard by many years, died peacefully on New Year's Day this year, well into her 98th year.
Joyce already had strong links with Englefield Green, even before Richard became Vicar here, as she was a graduate of Royal Holloway University College. Richard's ministry included a great care for RHUL.
Joyce's funeral will take place at St Jude's on Monday 27th January 2025 at 12 noon. Her family warmly invite anyone who would like to do so to join them for the service. After the service in church Joyce will be laid to rest with Richard, in the cemetery very close to the Church. We rejoice that she and Richard are already "together with the Lord".
Joyce leaves her daughter Janet and son Peter, and their families, including Joyce's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Please pray for them in the greatness of their loss.

About us...
St Jude's Church has been at the heart of Englefield Green for over 150 years. The Parish is part of the Diocese of Guildford and falls under the Deanery of Runnymede.
As a 'Local Ecumenical Partnership' (LEP) between the Church of England and the Methodist Church, St Jude's became St Jude's United Church and has a joint Anglican and Methodist heritage. We therefore offer a diverse programme of worship activities to suit all ages, tastes and needs.
St Jude’s United Church is committed to safeguarding all those who attend this church, a copy of the Diocesan safeguarding policy can be found here. Further information about how to report a safeguarding concern or incident can be found here.
The church is also fortunate to have two separate church halls (The Village Centre in Victoria Street and the Church Hall in Bond Street), and the Monsell Room (a separate meeting/function room attached to the church). Please contact us if you would like to enquire about booking one of these facilities.

Further information about the Village Centre facilities and opening hours can be found here.T
